Subject: Forwarding the University’s “Student Academic Integrity Guidelines” and “Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI Tools”

Description:

To strengthen students’ awareness of academic integrity and to establish a learning and research environment grounded in honesty, fairness, and respect for intellectual property, the University has formulated the “Student Academic Integrity Guidelines” (see attachment). These guidelines aim to help students clearly understand the fundamental principles of academic ethics, types of violations, and the corresponding handling mechanisms.
(1) These guidelines apply to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, covering all forms of academic work and outputs, including coursework assignments, academic reports, examinations, theses/dissertations, research projects, publications, and other academic activities.
(2) The guidelines clearly define various forms of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, falsification, ghostwriting, duplicate publication, and other violations of academic ethics. They also specify grading and evaluation procedures, as well as the disciplinary actions and processes for handling such violations, for faculty and students to follow.
(3) The guidelines are available on the Office of Academic Affairs website: Student Section / Faculty Section / Administrative Section → Others → Academic Ethics.
In response to technological advancements and evolving teaching needs, students who use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the process of learning, research, or writing should refer to the University’s “Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI Tools” to ensure the integrity and quality of academic work. These guidelines can be accessed on the Office of Academic Affairs website: AI Course Resources → Policy/Ethics, or via the following link:
https://oaa.nsysu.edu.tw/p/406-1003-313202,r1365.php?Lang=zh-tw
All academic units are requested to disseminate this information to their faculty members and students, and to reinforce the concepts of academic integrity and the proper use of generative AI tools in relevant courses, research supervision, and thesis/dissertation writing, so as to jointly foster a culture of integrity and respect within the University.
