【❗Important❗】2026 Environmental Safety and Health Training for Laboratories and Practical Training Areas

 

The Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Health Center (EPOSH Center) of National Sun Yat-sen University has announced the 2026 Environmental Safety and Health Training for Laboratories and Practical Training AreasAll newly assigned faculty members, staff, graduate students, and BMST Capstone students who will enter laboratories or practical training areas are required to complete this training.

 

1. In accordance with Articles 32 and 46 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employees who have not completed the required safety and health training may be subject to a fine of up to NT$3,000 by the competent authority. In addition, employees are required to complete at least 3 hours of in-service occupational safety and health training every three years.

 

2. According to Points 5 and 6 of the Guidelines on Follow-up Actions for Violations of Environmental Protection, Occupational Safety, and Health Regulations in the WorkplaceGraduate students and Capstone students who fail to attend the laboratory environmental safety and health training may not enter laboratories to conduct research or laboratory work. Violations will be recorded through the University's disciplinary point system.

 

3. Laboratories and practical training areas include:

(1) Laboratories
(2) Testing laboratories
(3) Practical training workshops
(4) Experimental workshops
(5) Experimental vessels and training vessels

 

4. The 2026 training is mandatory for the following NSYSU personnel:

(1) Newly assigned faculty members and staff entering laboratories or practical training areas.
(2) Newly assigned graduate students.
(3) BMST Capstone students.
(4) Faculty members, staff, and students working in laboratories who have not yet completed the required in-service safety and health training.
(5) Environmental safety and occupational safety managers of each department and institute.

 

5. All international faculty members, staff, graduate students, and Capstone students must complete the online training through the MOOCs Platform of the Ministry of Education by September 25, 2026.

Training Instructions
(1) Visit the MOOCs Platform of the Ministry of Education.
(2) Search for the course "Safety" (approximately 3 hours).
(3) Register for the course.
(4) Select "Sign in with Third-Party Authentication" (Google, LINE, Apple, etc.).
(5) Complete your personal information and begin the course.
(6) After completing the course, download the Certificate of Learning Hours.

Each department and institute should submit both: the list of international personnel who completed the training, and the Certificate of Learning Hours, to the NSYSU EPOSH Center as supporting documents for issuing the certificate of completion. In addition, the person in charge of each laboratory must provide 1 hour of internal laboratory safety and health training for international personnel before they begin laboratory work.

 

6. For undergraduate students entering teaching laboratories, the EPOSH Center provides laboratory safety instructional videos in both Chinese and English. Course instructors are encouraged to have students watch the appropriate version before laboratory classes to help prevent laboratory accidents.

️ **Reminder 1:According to University regulations, graduate students and Capstone students who do not complete the laboratory environmental safety and health training are not permitted to enter laboratories to conduct laboratory work, and violations will be recorded according to University regulations.

️ **Reminder 2:After completing the course, please download the Certificate of Learning Hours in PDF format and email it to huihsin@mail.nsysu.edu.tw. The Department will recognize the training as completed only after receiving your certificate.
