Abstract|

In genetics, mutations are the driving force behind evolution. This lecture will guide students from the microscopic world of genes to the macroscopic exploration of interdisciplinary career paths.
The first part revisits the fundamentals of genetics, highlighting the role of mutations in evolution. Through classic examples, it emphasizes that mutations are neutral by nature, and their impact depends on interactions with the environment.
In the second part, the speaker will share three major “genetic mutations” in his career journey. The first was transitioning from academia to neuroscience research; the second was crossing into the green energy industry, which, although not entirely successful, broadened his perspective; and the third was moving from equipment implementation to independently developing laboratory automation systems under pressure.
Through this journey—from neurogenomics to integrated hardware and software development—the lecture aims to inspire students to embrace uncertainty and transformation in both life and career.
